The engine lubrication system
serves many purposes; the two of them are lubrication and seal formation. The
system helps in providing lubrication to the various engine parts by reducing
friction by way of developing a thin film or clearance between the moving parts
of the engine. It also helps in forming a seal between piston rings and
cylinder walls.
